Aspen Ladd began her journey to combat sports at teenager age. Along with BJJ, she also trained in boxing, wrestling and kickboxing. When she was 18, she made her debut as an amateur at WCFC. Ladd then went on to win three fights in a row at Ultimate Reno Combat. All her opponents were defeated within the first minute. Then, she went back to WCFC in which she beat Leslie Rodriguez by unanimous decision. Aspen beat Silvia Babaeghian Maddy Simmons and Cynthia Calvillo before facing Cynthia Calvillo in WCFC 9 Cynthia was able to hand Aspen the win in a single-handed manner and was able to outclass her, tarnishing Ladd's professional career. Ladd recovered from this loss and defeated Roma Pawelek, taking her record to eight-one. Aspen became a professional in the year 2015 when she signed with Invicta FC to make her professional debut. At InvictaFC 11, she had her first professional bout. She dominated Ana Carolina Vidal, securing a 1st-round TKO. She won her next fight in the ring against Amanda Cooper via second-round armbar submission. She then fought at Bantamweight for her next fight at Invicta FC 16. Aspen utilized her formidable grappling skills to defeat McGill and ended her via third round TKO(elbows and punches). Aspen later fought Jessica Hoy in Invicta FC 18, weighing weight of catchweight (138.1lb) in the event that Ladd had missed weight. In spite of this, Aspen was able to dominate Hoy.
